February 1, 2008 the U.S. Department of State instituted new fees and new requirements for passport services.

• A passport is a very safe and easy form of identification for international travel.
• A passport is valid for 10 years, so it is never too soon to apply for a new or renewed passport!
• 

Air Travel: Passports are required to enter or re-enter the United States from:
        Canada 
        Mexico 
        Bermuda 
        Caribbean 
      Europe

SUMMER 2008..The precise implementation date will be formally announced with at least 60 days notice. The proposed full requirements of the Land and Sea phase for entry or re-entry of the United States require either:

• US Passport
• US Passport card
• Trusted traveler card: NEXUS, FAST, OR SENTRI
• Valid Merchant Mariner Document (MMD) when traveling in conjunction with official maritime business 

Note: The passport requirement does NOT apply to US citizens traveling to or returning directly from a US territory.
